From Humble beginnings, Kintaro Hattori's vision for Seiko has become a reality. Seiko has been dedicated to the art and science of time for 125 years. Their culture of innovation connects 19th century Tokyo clock shop with 20th century advancements in timekeeping to a remarkable 21st century "quiet revolution." Throughout their history, Seiko has continuously driven dedication and passion, introducing a multitude of world's first technologies that transform the principles of timekeeping.
Seiko's legacy includes significant milestones such as the first quartz wristwatch, which changed the history of timekeeping. Following that, they introduced the first Kinetic watch, marking a new era in quartz watch technology. In 1969, Seiko revolutionized the accuracy of wristwatches with the introduction of the first quartz wristwatch, Astron. Seiko's technology has since become the standard in Olympic and sports timing.
Further breakthroughs include the development of Kinetic technology in 1984, which is powered by body movement and offers unparalleled accuracy. This led to advancements such as the Kinetic Chronograph, the Kinetic Auto Relay, and the Kinetic Perpetual, combining the date perfect technology of a perpetual calendar with the genius of Kinetic Auto Relay. Seiko's latest innovation, Kinetic Direct Drive, allows the watch to be powered automatically by movement or hand-wound. The power generated can be seen in real time.
In the realm of fine watches, Seiko is synonymous with innovation and has devoted themselves to the art and science of timekeeping.
